Jellywishes
i admire he who has fallen past my hand.
jellywishes bring a plague across the land.
a breaking memory to make the evening light.
before i open up i have to say goodbye.
there's a place that i have been before.
a children's fever-dream in picket white secure.
a dandelion swamp, a sweet mosquito time.
i hope that you are doing fine.
i've been dreaming of an end to all the pain.
a screaming luxury of perfect and mundane.
a melancholia, an afternoon ennui.
before i blind myself i'll take the time to see.
there's a dream that i have never had
but i remember all the images i can.
a violent fantasy oppressed by murky light.
all children ever do is fight.
before i move along i'll try to look both ways
and if that dream slinks back i'll reach into the haze
to catch him by the tail, to claim my sleeping stake.
if i can't have my dream i'll have to stay awake.
